School Success Starts with Attendance

Being at school every day makes a huge difference!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we continue to prioritize the education and wellbeing of our students, we would like to share reminders and highlight the importance of regular attendance.

Why Attendance Matters:

Regular attendance is crucial for your child’s academic success and overall development. When students attend school regularly, they:

Stay on Track: Regular attendance ensures that students keep up with lessons, assignments, and classroom activities, fostering continuous learning and progress.

Build Relationships: Consistent attendance allows students to form strong relationships with teachers and peers, creating a supportive learning environment.

Develop Responsibility: By attending school regularly, students learn the importance of punctuality, responsibility, and commitment.

Your Role as Parents/Guardians:

As parents and guardians, you play a crucial role in supporting your child’s attendance. Here are some ways you can help:

Establish Routines: Set regular bedtime and morning routines to ensure your child is well-rested and prepared for school each day.

Communicate: Keep open communication with your child about the importance of attending school regularly and the consequences of frequent absences.

Lead by Example: Show the importance of attendance by prioritizing punctuality and attendance in your own daily life.

Monitor Progress: Stay involved in your child’s education by monitoring their attendance and academic progress regularly.

Active Travel Initiative - Walk Safely To School Day - 22nd March

On Friday 22nd of March, Saltwater P-9 College will be participating in the national celebration of Ride To School Day. This day is the perfect opportunity for our school community to embrace a healthier start to the year.

Bikes are a fantastic mode of transport. They're cheap, easy, convenient and good for our environment. Becoming a school where riding to school is encouraged will help our greater nation become a community full of happy and healthy people pedalling.

Two thirds of Australians don’t move their bodies enough to look after their health and happiness. When we do move around, instead of using our bodies, too often we’re using resources that are destroying our planet.  Last year in 2023, students across Australia saved 29 tonnes of CO2 by actively travelling to school – the equivalent of planting 202 trees. That’s only one day. Imagine if we did that every day of the school year. Over a year we’d save more than 5,700 tonnes of CO2 – the equivalent of planting 40,000 trees!

As one of our goals is Sustainability, we encourage that if you have the means to either ride, scoot or skate to school, to please do so.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to your child’s education. Together, we can create a positive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
