Diocesan Swimming Carnival

Last Friday, eight of our students competed at the Armidale Diocesan Swimming Carnival. Our visit to Gunnedah in 39 degree heat made us really happy to be New Englanders living in Glen Innes. It was a hot day; perfect weather for swimming.

Our students; Kash McPhillips, Zoe McAllister, Felicity Adams, Harley McPhillips, Zara Correy, Maggie Doust, Phoebe Newberry and Isobel Brummell all swam amazingly well. So much so that they beat their PB times!

Some highlights of the day included, Maggie Doust bringing it home to claim 1st in the 10 yrs 50m Freestyle with Zara Correy hot on her heels to grab the 3rd place. Isobel Brummell, just missed out on a place on the podium by coming 4th in the 50m Freestyle. Our Junior Girl Relay team consisting of Maggie, Phoebe, Isobel and Zara came 3rd, landing a spot on the podium. Zara won her 50m Breastroke with Maggie coming 6th. Zara came 3rd in the 50m Butterfly and the 200m IM. Kash came 5th in the 50m backstroke taking 4 seconds off his PB!

All of these students displayed excellent sportsmanship and support for each other and I commend them on their efforts for the day. It was a pleasure to watch them swim and try their very best.

Congratulations to Zara and Maggie who have been selected to represent the Diocese at the Polding trials in Sydney next month. Zara will compete in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Breastroke, 50m Butterfly and the 200IM. Maggie will be competing in the 50m Freestyle. We wish them all the best in Sydney!

Sport - Rugby League

We have begun our  4 week program of Rugby League skills run by the NRL Development Officer, Brad Field as part of the Sporting Schools Grant we received. Our students have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons Brad has delivered so far and we eagerly await the next two Fridays where the students will develop their skills.

Photos are on THIS WEEK IN PICTURES page.
