Positive Behaviours for Learning

During Weeks 3-6 the staff at Modbury were busy distributing tokens to students that they saw being 'Kind, Safe, and Resilient'. The students have been taking their tokens and casting their votes towards a Whole School Celebration. On Friday of Week 6 the votes were counted, and the clear winner was 10 minutes of extra play. We celebrated their collective display of positive behaviours with an extended recess time. Congratulations to all of the students for working together and being Kind, Safe, and Resilient

Our next vote is well underway, with the students choosing between "Crazy Hair Day' and 'Scooter Board Sessions'. Voting will close on Friday of Week 9.

First Aid Training

On Monday and Tuesday of Week 8 the team from the St John's Ambulance In Schools program will be visiting Modbury School to deliver FREE first aid training to each and every one of our primary school students. This program will give the children lifesaving skills, and empower each of our students to recognise and take action in an emergency situation.

Harmony Day

Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. This year Harmony Day falls during NAPLAN testing. To provide our students with the best opportunity for success, we have decided that we will delay our whole school celebration and hold our own Cultural Day Celebration later in the year.

Harmony day will still be recognised by classroom teachers on the 21st of March, and students will still participate in activities which acknowledge and respect our wonderfully diverse community. We look forward to celebrating the many cultures that make Modbury the wonderful community it is during both events.
