SA School and District Sport at Modbury P-6
On Friday 1-3-24, Amelia and Sophia represented our school at the Salisbury East District SAPSASA Swimming Carnival. We would like to thank Edna Peciar for supporting the students on the day.
Below is a recount written by Amelia and Sophia about the event.
SPLASH! On Friday the 1st of March, we went to Waterworld Aquatics Centre for the SAPSASA Swimming Carnival. The other schools got to the Swimming Event before we did, and they were practising. It was just us from Modbury School but we didn’t think that would let us down winning a few rounds!
We practiced our freestyle in the pool but then we got really tired so we stretched until we got called up for our first event which was 100 metres freestyle girls. Sophia was in lane 6 and Amelia was in lane 1. They blew a hooter when you could dive and swim into the water. After we did 100 metres freestyle, we had a lot of time so we went to another pool and practised some backstroke for the next event which was 50 metres backstroke. Our last event was 50m freestyle, which we both did.
All these events were separated, so there was lots of time between our races so we got to swim in a different pool to warm up.
We had chicken nuggets and chips for lunch at the canteen. They were…DEEELIIICOUS!
We had a great time swimming SAPSASA. I wish we could do it again.
