P&F Contributions

Thank you to our amazing Parents and Friends Association who through their fundraising efforts contributed to three outdoor tennis tables for our students to utilise. Two are now positioned on the Principal’s lawn which has transformed this into a very competitive area. This area is open to all year levels. It has been great to see students gather together, enjoy each other’s company and provide a healthy and mature rivalry whilst showcasing their skills. I would like to commend our students for how they have approached this space, encouraged others to participate and for displaying our Virgilian values in their interaction with others.

Passion

Far too often we hear boys say, “I’m not interested, or I don’t like that, or That’s not my thing”. Sometimes we are too quick to make a judgement without giving something a real honest go. Only once you have tried and experienced can comment on the outcome. At times our young men are often influenced by their peers. I strongly encourage our students to find enjoyment through their own talents. This is not always dependent on their mates. Often you will find similar interests among friends, but you still have to be brave to go out and try new and take on new opportunities.

Musos is an excellent example. Particularly our Year 12 students who have recently been accepted into the University of Tasmania’s Music Foundation Course. This showcases not only their skills set and talent but more importantly their commitment to their passion. Hearing them practice each lunchtime is testament to the time they are willing to put in, which is evidently reaping the rewards. I would like to thank Massimo Rigoli and Thomas Weeding in particular for being very patient with me and teaching me my very first riff Smoke on the Water

Homework Club

Homework club occurs every Tuesday straight after school for an hour. You will find a great space to work in the library, along with the amazing support of Mrs Wolfe and Mr Hill. This could become part of your weekly routine to get some additional study sorted or get some additional help on a particular assignment. I strongly encourage students to utilise this support.
