Engy Habib and the Class 3 Team

Throughout Week 7, the Emmaus Christian College Early Learning Centre proudly hosted the "Biggest Morning Tea" as a special fundraising event to support Cancer Council Australia. This meaningful event gave us the opportunity to come together as one community, including children, teachers, leadership members, and families. It allowed us to display, value, and celebrate who we are and who we belong to within the wider Emmaus Christian College community, while showing care, compassion, and generosity towards others beyond the walls of our centre.
Cancer Council Australia plays an important role in supporting people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families, carers, and communities. Their work includes funding cancer research, providing prevention education, advocating for better cancer care, and offering information and support services. Through events like the Biggest Morning Tea, communities across Australia raise vital funds to help the Cancer Council continue this important work - to bring hope, care, and practical support to those experiencing cancer.
In Class Three Blue, this fundraising event connected beautifully with our Christian Studies learning. We have been exploring, learning, and growing in our understanding of the significance of receiving the Holy Spirit, and how its fruit works within our hearts during our spiritual journey at Emmaus. As we reflected on Galatians 5:22–23, we were reminded that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Through biblical stories, the Word of God, picture books, role-playing scenarios, and reflections on our play interactions, the children have been learning how these fruits can be shown in the way we think, speak, act, and respond to others.

The Biggest Morning Tea also reminded us that helping others is part of our calling as Christians. In Hebrews 13:16, we are encouraged: “Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” We also reflected on 1 John 3:18, which reminds us, “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
Furthermore, in Matthew 25:35–40, Jesus teaches that when we care for those who are hungry, thirsty, lonely, unwell, or in need, we are also serving Him. This powerful message helped the children understand that our faith is not only something we talk about, but something we live out through kindness, generosity, compassion, and service.
Throughout the week, the children were encouraged to think about people who are unwell, marking another beautiful step in their spiritual growth. These moments supported them in building spiritual values and developing a deeper understanding of who God calls us to be when facing challenges in the world around us.
We are incredibly thankful for the generosity and support of our Emmaus ELC families and wider community throughout Week 7. The Biggest Morning Tea gave our children a real-life opportunity to practice empathy, kindness, compassion, and giving, while also growing in their understanding of God’s love for all people. Together, we continue to grow in faith, love, and care for others as we learn to think, speak, act, and respond with hearts shaped by God’s love.
With Blessings and Grace,
