From our Foundation Classrooms

Welcome to Term 3!
We are looking forward to another exciting term of learning in Foundation!
Literacy
This term, students will continue learning new phonics skills to help them become confident readers. They will read more decodable books, using the letter sounds they know to read words independently.
During Literacy, students will also take part in fun language experiences to build their speaking, listening and vocabulary. Our reading and writing learning will be connected to our Science topic, Insects and Habitats, where we will discover what insects are, where they live and how they survive.
This term we also have two exciting celebrations:
- 100 Days of Learning – celebrating 100 days of being amazing Foundation students!
- Little Learners Love Literacy Celebration – celebrating that students have now learned the letter names and sounds for every letter of the alphabet.
NAIDOC Week
Next week, Meadows Primary School will celebrate NAIDOC Week. Throughout the week, students will learn about the rich history, cultures and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples through activities across all learning areas.
Families are warmly invited to join us for our NAIDOC Week Assembly on Friday, where students will proudly share some of their learning.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, students will be exploring numbers to 20. They will practise counting, recognising, reading, writing and ordering numbers, as well as solving simple number problems through games and hands-on activities.
Swimming Program
Our Foundation students will also take part in the Swimming Program this term. During this special week, students will learn important swimming and water safety skills while building their confidence in the water.
Growing Together
This term, we will continue helping students build positive classroom routines, become more independent and follow our school values of being Respectful, Responsible and Resilient. We are proud of the way our students are learning to work together, show kindness and always try their best.
We are excited for another wonderful term of learning and can't wait to share it with you!
