Principal's Report

Tim Furphy, Principal

Hi families,

It's been a very busy term with plenty happening in classrooms. We've placed a big emphasis on kindness in interactions with others and what it looks/sounds like to be kind. It's been magical hearing and seeing our students demonstrate this in all areas of thier school life, with a few sharing their experiences at Assembly last week.

We've had Cobaw soccer and Education Week open afternoons/mornings  this week, Mothers Day morning tea last week, then 3-6 camp the week before. All of this before School Photo Day next week!

The 4/5/6's are continuing to demonstrate their resilience while Rai is out, we're hopeful to have her return in the near future.

We have a careers expo coming up next week, and are lucky to have many parents willing to share about thier experiences in their career. We will be in touch with you soon to organise what the morning looks like.

LANCEFIELD FC BALL DROP

Big thanks to School Council for organising some fun kids activities a couple of weeks ago, as well as Lancefield FC for having us. We got a mention in their Tiger Talk newsletter for the week. Shout out to Pete Brown for helping out on the day, it was great to be out and among our local ommunity!

COMMUNITY STORY TIME IS BACK

Come and join us in our Foundation/1 class to get comfy, read a story and experiene school life. This is open to ANY families in the community, not just NPS families. Please help us spread the word!

NEW UNIFORM ITEMS

School Council this week approved new items to be added to our uniform list for NPS. We will offer a new black softshell jacket, embroided with 'Newham' in red lettering. This will be helpful during those cold Winter months.

As well as this, a red cotton long sleeve undergarment, to be worn underneath polo/regular school shirt (not as solo item).

These will be available through eduthreads, please keep an eye out soon for an announcement on how to purchase.

Please note these are NOT compulsory items

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

We have students in shorts and t-shirts sitting close to heaters to get warm inside classrooms. Please remind students that as the weather gets cooler we need to adapt to conditions by wearing a few extra layers. Heaters in classrooms will be set to comfortable temperatures, although as a 5 star school we need to ensure students are rugged up appropriately!

BEANIES AVAILABLE

If you haven't yet done so, this is a reminder beanies are available to purchase from the office costing $20. We have seen plenty around the yard so far and are looking for more as the days get colder!

SCHOOLS OUT

Schools Out have opened for care on Fridays for anyone interested, we're still waiting on Wednesdays although this should be coming very soon.
