Title: the name of the piece of writing e.g. How to make fairy bread.

Ingredients: the things used to make a recipe e.g. flour, milk, eggs.

Materials: the equipment needed to make something e.g. scissors, spoon, knife.

Steps: A list of things to follow in order to successfully complete a task. Steps are numbered 1,2,3…

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

With your child go on a search around the house. Together look for an example of a procedural text such as a recipe, the instructions for a board or card game etc.

Read through the recipe/instructions etc with your child and discuss the different parts- the title, the ingredients or materials (or maybe both) and the steps.
