Principal's Message
Term 2 Week 3
It's on its way! I know many of you will have seen our board out the front, advertising enrolment information for 2025 and our School Tours and Kinder Open Morning on Saturday the 18th May. The School Captains and SRC Presidents join Erin, Mr Shaw and the Kinder staff to showcase our school and give an insight into what we provide at MPRPS&K.
The tours can be booked through our website and are running at 9am and 10.30am with many bookings already.
A highlight of our Education Week is our Open Afternoon (replaces our traditional Open Night) where the classrooms are open with teachers in attendance and students can show their work books and classroom.
We welcome all families to attend after assembly on Monday 13th May 3.30 - 4.30pm.
AND Grandparents Day Tuesday May 14th for our Foundation students where grandparents or special friends come and spend time with their Foundation student working on an activity together in the classroom.
Our Kindergarten children are taking part in their first community celebration for the year, with our Mothers and special Persons concert taking place this coming week. The children have been busy practising songs, dances and have created a small gift for the wonderful people in our lives.
These events are always a highlight of the year, and an important step in the children’s awareness of their sleeves and their place in the world around them.
Across the school through personal Goal Setting, reviewing their assessments, Student Representative Council and lots of opportunities for lesson reflections and feedback for teachers students have a say in how they learn. We also have a student voice wall that runs different themes across the weeks often driven by the SRC reps. Recently the students have given ideas and feedback on what they want the outdoor classroom in the Kitchen Garden to look like, how they use or want to use Murphy our trained Therapy Dog and at the moment they are giving feedback on the Chill Out room- a space to support students to regulate and take time out.
We have changed companies for our school photos hoping for better quality and not an over reliance on touching up. Classes appeared to enjoy the experience of the different style of class photos.
Even staff had a bit of fun with the different styles of group photos.
It has returned and a huge thank you to Em and Kate our Learning Specialists and Tani our Literacy Intervention teacher for bringing alive our Codes/Phongram Program. Thank you to all of our parents that have committed to the three sessions to learn about how we use the Codes/Phonograms to teach students reading and writing skills.
Finally after many delays we have the concrete slab poured for the Creative Hub, which includes the Science Lab and Performing Arts spaces.
The work is now focused on getting ready for the Classroom Wing concrete pour. The works are on track to be completed at the end of December and we are hopeful the weather will be good over the coming months.
