NEWS & ADMINISTRATION
Mrs Caroline Galea
Welcome back to Term 2, I trust that you all had a relaxing break and the children are now ready to be back at school. It was lovely to see all the smiling faces earlier this week. We started the term with a whole school incursion from St. John Ambulance where they educated the children about first aid and what to do in an emergency.
On Sunday 28th April, our Year 6 children will be celebrating their Confirmation. Bishop Terry Curtin will visit the children on Tuesday 23rd April at 10:00. He will then stay for morning tea. It's always nice to meet up with Bishop Curtin.
Next week we have two school closure days with the ANZAC day public holiday falling on Thursday 25th April followed by a school closure day on Friday 26th April (staff will be updating their Level 2 First Aid).
Uniform
As the weather gets cooler, we begin to move into winter uniform. As of Monday 22nd April all children are expected to be in their winter uniform. Please have a look at the policy below for any clarification e.g. wearing of shorts during winter.
I have also been thinking about the uniform of late and was hoping I could get parent feedback about the topic. This information will be tabled at a SAC meeting (School Advisory Council) and parents informed of any decisions made. Even if the decision was made to change certain pieces, it would take years for the change to be complete as we would start with the new intake of Preps.
Please take a few minutes to complete the google form.

Circular Driveway
This is just a gentle reminder that if you are using the circular driveway, you should not move away from your car to collect children. This blocks the path of other drivers and many are trying to get to Secondary schools to pick up other children. Please show some consideration and not leave cars unattended.
Future ideas
At the last P&F meeting, we discussed the success of the car show and previous family fun days. As a committee we are looking for some new ideas of possible events. Please take a few minutes to fill in the google form via the following link.

ANZAC Day Merchandise
From now until next Wednesday, the school office is selling ANZAC badges, keyrings, pens & wristbands to support the wonderful work that the RSL (Returned Services League) does in our community to support veterans and their families in time of need. Prices range from $2 to $5 (cash only).
Mother's Day
This year we have decided to trial something new for Mother's Day. Instead of doing something on just one day, we decided to spread the events to allow mothers, grandmothers etc., the opportunity to work one event into their week.
Monday 6th May
At Assembly on Monday 6th May, there will be a small prayer service to celebrate all our mothers, followed by the Choir singing some songs for the significant females in our lives - all welcome.
Thursday 9th May
At 2:00pm, join the staff in the staffroom for a small afternoon tea. At 2:20pm join your children in their house colour areas for an activity afternoon.
Mother's Day Stall
The P&F will once again hold their Mother's Day stall on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th May. The children can bring up to $20 to buy small gifts for the significant women in their lives. The P&F are looking for volunteers to assist with this event. If you are available could you please let Leanne at the office know by either emailing her your availability on office@hnpe.catholic.edu.au or calling on 9471 0883. You must have a current WWC registered with the office to volunteer.
Bicycle Safety
It is great to see students riding to and from school. Please ensure your child is safe and vigilant on the roads and footpaths. It can be very busy in the mornings and afternoons with traffic and cars reversing out of their driveways. Students must walk their bikes on hte school grounds when going to and from the bike sheds. We cannot have students riding around in the school as this is very dangerous for other students and families.
Book Club Issue 3
If your child would like to order, please either send in the form & correct money to the office OR order online by Wednesday 1 May (3.30pm).
Parent Representatives
Each year we put out a call for classroom reps. A classroom rep's role is to act as a conjuit between the school and the parents. They are also the point of call for new parents that may join Holy Name and they organise one or two outings for either the whole group (children and parents) or just parents. Please let Leanne know if this is something you are interested in. The reps so far are:
Grade PB:
Grade PK: Nadah Horkos & Doniya Foundoglou
Grade 1/2B:
Grade 1/2H:
Grade 1/2S:
Grade 3/4B: Joana O'Neill
Grade 3/4M:
Grade 3/4Z:
Grade 5/6A: Stephanie Butera
Grade 5/6C: Stephanie Butera
Grade 5/6K: Carmela Gervasoni
Dental Van Visit
Today, each child will bring home a Dental Van form. If you wish your child to visit the Dental Van, please complete the form and return it to your child's teacher by 8 May 2024.
We are expecting the Dental Van team to visit our school in the first week of Term 3.
Canteen
Just a reminder that if you place a lunch order in advance and your child is unwell, you need to cancel it prior to 8.30am on the day.
ECSI SURVEY FOR PARENTS
Thank you to all the families that have completed our ECSI survey. For all those that have emailed me their certificate of completion you have been entered into our raffle. We would greatly appreciate your input if you could spare some time to complete this survey. This needs to be completed by Friday 26th April.

Lost & Found
Last term, we had a small number of windcheaters without names on them, handed in at the office. One of the windcheaters is brand new, but not purchased from Academy, if this is yours, please see Leanne. Unfortunately, we can't reunite students with their items if we don't know who they belong to. Please make sure you name all outer garments.
ALSO if any of the assorted items in the pictures below, belong to your child, ring Leanne or come to the office please.
