In inquiry this term, the MLAs are preparing to explore how the Earth's sun and moon are part of an interconnected system that creates a climate. We plan to dive into this at our very exciting excursion coming up at Scienceworks. We began by investigating Indigenous seasonal calendars, such as the Eastern Kulin calendar, and learning how they are guided by changes in nature. Students compared these to the four-season calendar we use today and discussed the similarities and differences. We have also been exploring maps of weather patterns and climate zones around the world, building our understanding of how different places experience the seasons in unique ways.
Our Grade 3 and 4 students have been introduced to our new Maths unit on Measurement. They have been exploring both formal and informal units of measurement, using a variety of tools to measure objects in the classroom and out in the environment. Students are learning to compare, estimate, and record their measurements while becoming familiar with the language of measurement. It has been a hands-on and engaging start to the unit!
