What's Happening At Milgate!
Milgate Primary School would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of the Wurundjeri People, and we would like to pay our respects to the elders both past and present. Staff, students and the school community understand that we thrive, learn and live on Wurundjeri Country and we stand with all cultures united as one.
We hope all our families had a restful break and are feeling recharged for what promises to be a vibrant and eventful Term 3. There is much to look forward to over the coming weeks, including the Foundation 100 Days of School celebration, Year 3 and 4 Camp, the school Musical, Book Week, National Science Week, our Community Games Evening, Outdoor Movie Night, Year 2 Outdoor Education Days, and the always-popular Year 1 Dinner and Games Night.
Alongside these exciting experiences, our staff and leaders will also be engaging deeply with key data sets, including the Attitudes to School Survey and NAPLAN, to reflect on our progress and identify areas for growth. This term also marks the beginning of our School Review process which is a valuable opportunity to celebrate how far we’ve come and start shaping the next chapter of our Strategic Plan together.
We’re looking forward to a purposeful and joy-filled term ahead!
Our Year 2 students recently enjoyed a wonderful day at Edendale Farm, exploring sustainability, animal care, and the natural environment. They had the opportunity to get up close with farm animals, learn about composting and worm farms, and discover how food is grown. It was a hands-on learning experience that supported our inquiry into how people interact with the environment and care for living things. The students returned full of excitement, new knowledge, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world!
Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Friday 1 August, which will be a student-free day. Meetings will go for 10-minutes and are available either in person or online. Please note that students do not attend these interviews. If you have not already booked an interview, we encourage you to do so ASAP. If you would like an interpreter for these interviews, can you let the classroom teacher know, as they will be able to arrange an interpreter over the phone.
We would like to acknowledge that the Specialist Teachers’ interview allocations have been exhausted. If possible, we ask if you have booked an interview for a general update, that this is cancelled so that parents who have a particular concern they would like to discuss with the Specialist Teacher are able to do so. All general Specialist subject information can be found in the Term Bulletins.
THURSDAY 7TH AUGUST - 3:45-4:30
Next term, we’re excited to invite families to our Community Games Afternoon—a fun and informal event for students and parents to enjoy together.
Join us for activities including down ball, soccer, basketball, and more!
The event will take place on the blue basketball courts and synthetic soccer pitch.
We look forward to seeing you there!
We are excited to announce this year's theme for Book Week: "Book an Adventure!" Throughout the week, from August 16th to August 23rd, our students will explore the wonders of storytelling, unlocking new worlds and expanding their imaginations. As part of the festivities, we invite you to join us for our sustainable Book Week Parade on Friday the 22nd of August at 9:00am on the blue basketball. Embracing our commitment to sustainability, we will build on last year’s parade and we encourage students to dress up as their favourite book characters or authors, using recycled materials or items from home. Let's celebrate the adventure of reading while demonstrating our dedication to taking action towards a more sustainable future. We look forward to seeing you there!

We are about to send the socks to India! We were hoping to send 200 pairs of socks, and we currently have 164. If you would like to help us reach 200 pairs of socks, could you please donate a new pair of socks to the Sock Drive Box at the school office.
