Principal's Message

2025 School Theme - Why Team, Why Team Westbreen

Assistant Principal’s Message

Dear Westbreen PS Families.

Thank you for a great first week of learning in Term 3. The classrooms were calm, and the students were excited to be back.

Acting Principal Update

As mentioned in an SMS to all families last Friday afternoon, we have been notified by the Department of Education that the appointment of an Acting Principal is continuing. Once this process has been completed and an appointment has been made, we will update the school community.

I would like to express with gratitude the support that all members of Team Westbreen have given each other at this time.  I encourage everyone to continue this support of each other ensuring that our students are engaged in their learning and that they feel supported also with their schooling.

Welcome to Team Westbreen

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Ms. Jodi Howell to the team as our new Business Manager. Jodi has worked in many schools within DET and we welcome her experience and knowledge that she brings. Welcome Jodi to Team Westbreen.

2025 NAPLAN Reporting Update

Last week, our families in Grade 3 and Grade 5 received their child's individual student report for this year's NAPLAN testing. The report includes your child's achievement in numeracy, reading, writing, spelling and grammar and punctuation assessed based on four proficiency levels as follows:

• Exceeding

• Strong

• Developing

• Needs additional support

These reports also show the students' progress compared to their peers. They will indicate the students' skill levels compared to national averages and where we would expect them to be in order to get the most out of their schooling. This information is valuable for teachers, as it helps them understand how to best support your child.

While each set of NAPLAN results is an important milestone, it is crucial for students to know that one result does not define them. These results are meant to ensure that every student receives the support they need to continue learning effectively. As always, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.

Our Foundation Students Turn 100!

During Term 3, our Foundation students will celebrate one hundred (100) school days at Westbreen PS. On Wednesday the 6th of August, our Foundation students will celebrate this milestone during assembly and the Foundation classrooms will participate in activities linked to this milestone also on this day.

Important Reminder: Planning for 2026

It's encouraging to see that enrolment forms for Foundation 2026 are still being submitted. Completing the enrolment forms for Foundation 2026 is important as we look forward to beginning our 2026 workforce planning soon.

We urge parents and caregivers to fill out any sibling enrolment details for 2026 as soon as possible to aid in planning for the 2026 school year. Parents can access the school enrolment form on the Westbreen Primary School website (westbreen.ps@education.vic.gov.au), visit the school office during opening hours to collect a 2026 enrolment form or speak with Miss Kerry, our Community & Enrolments Officer.

Please include your child's birth certificate, immunisation record, and proof of address (such as a copy of a current driver's license, utility bill, or rental agreement) with the form.

Once again, lets continue to support each other and we look forward to seeing you at assembly tomorrow or at the school gate during the week.

Jason Kenny

Assistant Principal
