Dear Sacred Heart Kew Families,
‘Resilience is the happy knack of bungy jumping over the obstacles of life’
Andrew Fuller
Welcome back! I hope that you and your family enjoyed a break away from the school routine, hopefully, locating those pesky lunch boxes and school uniform items again, ready for Term 3. Here we already are, at the end of week two (perhaps even ‘bungeeing’ our way into the term).
We have already celebrated some very special events with Grandparents and Special Friends Day last Friday, as well as our Semester 2 School Leaders Badge Presentation Assembly on the same day. It really was a fabulous day. It’s always so beautiful to see our children share their learning with their special people each year, and we all enjoyed acknowledging and celebrating our new leaders for the second half of the school year.
Thanks to all those parents who were able to attend our presentation on Tuesday night by Andrew Fuller. It was an engaging and informative evening. Andrew provided us with helpful tips and strategies to navigate life’s ‘ups and downs’, unpacking the many different types of personalities that exist in the great wide world (including in the school, the classrooms and our home environments).
Speaking of obstacles and ‘ups and downs’, over the next few weeks our School Hall building external painting works will start. This will be completed in stages (with each stage taking approximately 1-2 weeks to be completed - weather dependent of course, beginning with the eastern, then southern side of the building). During this time you will see some temporary fencing in the top court area of our school grounds, protecting and separating our school and children from these works.
We have been told that the painting of the western side of the building (St John's Pde) will require the footpath to be fenced off, as the old awnings and tattered external blinds are removed - in addition to the painting. This will obviously impact the St John's Pde 2 minute drop off and pick up area, and we're still working through what can be managed/adjusted during this period. The northern side painting works shouldn't provide too much disruption, as there is already temporary fencing in this area. When we receive further updates regarding these works I will pass them on. I am sure that these works will captivate everyone’s attention. What a privilege it will be to watch our old School Hall building receive some much needed care and attention, as it receives a facelift of sorts.
We look forward to many more exciting events and activities this term. This includes our Year 4 children celebrating the Sacrament of First Eucharist this weekend, at our Saturday night (5pm) and Sunday morning (9.30am) Parish Masses with Father Michael. We keep these children and their families in our thoughts and prayers at this special time of preparation and faith development and look forward to witnessing them receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist over the weekend. Thank you to our Year Four teachers and Mrs Richardson for preparing our Year Four children for this next important step on their faith journey.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards,
Ed Weekes
School Principal
