News from our Principal..

...Mrs Clarke...

We have begun a consultation process with various stakeholders—including staff, the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C), PCYC, and Translink—about a proposed change to school hours, set to take effect from 2026.

The new proposed school hours are 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. This represents a minimal adjustment and is not expected to significantly affect the structure of the students’ school day.

We value the input of our community throughout this process and will provide an update on the outcome of the consultation in communications to parents and carers later in the year.

I am very proud to share that our Goondiwindi State School Prep transition program has been showcased in the latest edition of the Queensland Principal magazine. I was honoured to be invited to write an article, “Building Strong Foundations – Leading Successful Transitions to Prep,” which highlights the way our school community works together to give children the very best start to their schooling journey.

At Goondiwindi State School, we know that starting Prep is a big step. Our transition program is built on strong relationships with families and early childhood services, helping children feel safe, supported and excited about beginning school.

This recognition is not just about our school being featured in a magazine – it is a celebration of the efforts of our staff, families, and community partners who make these successful transitions possible. Together, we are building strong foundations for our youngest learners.

Enrolments for 2026 are now open for all year levels. Please contact the school office or visit our website to schedule a meeting with a member of the leadership team prior to completing your enrolment. We look forward to assisting you through the process.

We ask that students DO NOT bring toys from home to school. Personal toys can easily be lost, broken, or cause disagreements with other students. They can also create distractions from learning.

At school, we provide a wide range of engaging activities such as games, puzzles, drawing activities, construction toys, and trucks for students to enjoy during playtime. These resources are shared fairly and help all children develop social and problem-solving skills together.

Thank you for supporting us in keeping school a safe and positive place for everyone.
