Principal's Message

Riverwalk Primary School is a child safe community.

We acknowledge the Wathaurong People, the Traditional Owners of the land on which we teach and learn, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Wominjeka!

Dear Families,

It’s been a bright and busy start to Term 3 at Riverwalk, and I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome back. I’d also like to acknowledge our students, staff, and families for your continued support and enthusiasm.

Year 3–6 Swimming Program

A huge thank you to our Year 3–6 students and staff for making our swimming program such a success! It was fantastic to see our student’s showing resilience, giving things a go, and building their confidence in the water. Thank you also to our families for supporting this important part of the curriculum — we’re incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school.

NAIDOC Week 2025

In Week 1, our students celebrated NAIDOC Week with the theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.” Across the school, students took part in a range of inclusive activities — from listening to First Nations stories through podcasts like Little Yarns, to exploring art, dance, language, and music. Some classes joined in singalongs to Acknowledgement of Country, while others used mindfulness time to reflect on Aboriginal culture through music and visual arts. It was a powerful way to begin the term, building understanding and connection through inclusive and collaborative learning.

100 Days Brighter!

Our Foundation students reached a major milestone — 100 Days of School! We celebrated with our “100 Days Brighter” theme, and the school was glowing with colour as our youngest learners dressed in their brightest outfits. Congratulations to our Foundation students and a big thank you to the teachers, families and carers who helped make it a special day.

House Spirit Week

Well done to our House Captains for organising House Spirit Week! There were fun activities held at lunchtime each day for every year level, and it was great to see students getting involved and showing their house pride.

Next term, Riverwalk will be participating in our School Review, an important opportunity to reflect on our progress and set future directions. As part of this process, we’ll be inviting families to an informal morning tea later this term to share feedback about what’s working well and where we can continue to grow — more details to come soon.

A quick reminder that Book Week is coming up in Week 5, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with a range of activities, including our annual Book Parade. It’s always a highlight — students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book characters

Finally, thank you for the thoughtful messages, cards and kind words shared for National Principals Day. On behalf of the Principal Team, we really appreciated the gestures — it was the perfect way to end week 2 and meant a lot to us.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Warm Regards,

Barry Devlin
