PE in Term 3
This week Grade 3s, 4s and 5s have started a 3 week unit in skipping. Students are working on some beginner skills, followed by intermediate and advanced skills in the following weeks as well as doing some partner skipping (2 students with 1 rope) and group skipping with a long rope. The focus has been on fitness, perseverance and endurance. Students have finished each lesson with an endurance challenge where they attempt to skip for as long as they can without stopping and aim for milestones of 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes and 3 minutes at a time continuously.
Grade 6s are continuing with a term long tournament in their classes across different sports. One week is learning skills and rules of the sport and the next week is a 3 team round robin. The competition is self-run by the students where all students have a responsibility such as being the umpire, scorer, equipment manager, coach, captain, judge or sports photographer. This week Grade 6 students were learning netball skills and drills and playing adapted games of netball to practice those skills for the netball round robin next week.
