NAIDOC Day

NAIDOC Day at Narrandera High School
On Wednesday the 30th of July we celebrated NAIDOC Day at NHS. It was great to see all staff and students enjoy the day and participate in all the activities and enjoy the yummy bush tucker food and lunch provided by Uncle Mick Lyons and his team. Braden and Joy would like to send a massive thank you to;
- Uncle Mick, Phillip, Leanne and Simone for their preparing of bush tucker and giving our students the chance to make their own emu spring rolls, emu egg omelette and johnny cakes and for also providing lunch and desserts
- Richard Gilbert for teaching our students how to throw spears and boomerangs
- Simone Ingram for supporting on the day
- Malek Lyons, Tahlia Gilbert and their deadly up and coming dance group for teaching and performing traditional dance
- John and Gary Ingram for running traditional games
- All staff who helped out and supported on the day
- Our Principal, Tania Maddison for all her support and guidance
- Our front office ladies for all their dedication and support
The day was an overwhelming success enjoyed by staff, students and community members, with the food being the highlight of the day in particular the johnny cakes with maple syrup, Phillip and Leanne were having trouble keeping up with the demand for this yummy traditional treat, enjoyed by ALL!
There was a chance to win a prize bag. We had six bags to award to two students from each stage level who displayed encouragement, respect and participation. The following students demonstrated great leadership and participated in NAIDOC activities enthusiastically.
