Careers

Hello Parents/Guardians and Community Members,

Our subject selection interviews are continuing this week for our Year 10 & Year 11 cohorts, and we still have appointments available after school this week. Parents who wish to book an appointment can ring the school office and arrange a time that is still available. Or you are welcome to call the careers office and discuss any questions you may have over the phone. Students who have not yet booked an appointment will be collected from class throughout this week and next week to ensure they have spoken with careers about their subject selection to ensure they have all the correct information they need to make the best choices.

Also on this term we have several excursions coming up for our Year 10 cohort such as the Try a Trade Day in Wagga on the 21st  of August and a Wagga Wagga TAFE tour, as well as visits from ADF on the 18th August and the possibility to attend a few industry tours with local employers in the coming few weeks.

Subject Selections Night

Held 30th July 2025

Thank you to all the parents and students who attended the Subject Selection Information night held in the school hall on 30th July. It was encouraging to see so many students and all our families, parents, guardians attending the night and asking our expert teachers all about senior subject. As discussed above, parents and carers can still book appointments with Ms Maddison or myself this week by ringing the school office and booking an available timeslot or can ring the careers office to organise a time or phone call to follow up.

Year 12 Early Entry University & UAC applications & University Open Days

Many of our Year 12 students have been busy preparing their university early entry applications and meeting with me in the careers office to fine tune their applications and responses to specific university criteria. Students are encouraged to continue to make appointments to seek assistance with this process.

*Many of the universities have their Open Days coming up in the next few months and to assist students to decide between universities and campus, I recommend students attend with their parents and carers so that you can see first-hand what accommodation options are available and what the process is to apply for accommodation and access the various resources and information to allow you to make informed choices as you transition to tertiary studies post school. *Most of these are shared on our Facebook page so parents can know when these events are taking place.

If parents and carers are keen to seek more information or guidance on this process, please reach out to the Careers office for further information.

Year 12 Careers Transition Interviews

Careers Planning and Transition interviews with all our Year 12 students continue this term and our Year 12 students have a busy final term planned out. I encourage all Year 12 to attend a post school career planning interview, so they can have an idea of the next steps they wish to take in as they transition to post school employment, apprenticeships or training at either TAFE or University.  If parents or carers wish to attend these interviews, please call the careers office and we can schedule a time that suits you.

As part of this transition process, we are also working on each students Employment Portfolio and students have access to templates and programs to assist them to write their Resumes, Personal Statements and prepare their Employment Portfolio folders. Each student in Year 12 have been provided with a grey folder they can use for job interviews. If any student has missed collecting their folder, please come and see me in the careers office.

Australian Defence Force Visit

On Monday 18th August, we will have a visit from the ADF to discuss careers, gap years and entry pathways into the defence force, as well as students participating in the ADF Personal Training Challenge. This event will be for our Year 10 cohort and interested senior students.

Try a Trade Day & Wagga TAFE Excursion

21st August 2025

We also have another great excursion coming up for our Year 10 cohort to explore all the Trades based careers at the Try a Trade Day in Wagga on 21st August. At this event, many employers across the Riverina will be in attendance with hands on displays and information on all things Trades and Vocational Courses from TAFE and other RTO’s.
