Celebrating Strong Growth in Student Learning – 2025 Results

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to share the outstanding results from our 2025 assessments, which highlight the impressive learning growth of our students across Reading, Spelling, and Numeracy. These gains are a testament to the commitment of our teachers, the strength of our programs—particularly our Orton-Gillingham approach to literacy—and the support of you, our parent community.

Year 3: Exceptional Progress

Our Year 3 students have demonstrated significant improvement across all areas:

📖 Reading

Up 11% from 78% (2024) to 89% in 2025

  • Nearly half the cohort (46%) is now performing in the top two bands, up from 24% last year

✍️ Spelling

  • Increased from 66% to 74% (+8% gain)

  • A 9% increase in students achieving in the top two bands, now at 25%

  • This improvement reflects the growing impact of our Orton-Gillingham literacy program, which is explicitly structured and evidence-based to support all learners in mastering phonics, spelling, and decoding

➗ Numeracy

  • Rose from 75% to 82% (+7% gain)

  • The percentage of students in the top two bands more than doubled—from 12% to 29%

Year 5: Strong Outcomes and Steady Progress

Our Year 5 students have also achieved solid results:

✍️ Spelling

  • Maintained a high standard, rising slightly to 79%, after a drop the previous year

  • One in four students (25%) are in the top two bands, showing consistent strength in spelling

  • The Orton-Gillingham approach continues to support consolidation and confidence in spelling accuracy

➗ Numeracy

  • Holding steady at a high level with 85% of students meeting or exceeding benchmarks

  • Top band achievement more than doubled, from 12% to 27%, showing growth in advanced numeracy skills

📖 Reading

  • Overall achievement remains strong at 85%

  • A solid 30% of students are now in the top two bands, demonstrating continued excellence among a significant portion of the cohort

  • We’re using this year’s data to guide targeted teaching, with a renewed focus on comprehension strategies and reading engagement

  • With strong foundational skills and tailored supports in place, we are confident this area will continue to strengthen in the year ahead

We are incredibly proud of these achievements. The marked improvements, particularly in Year 3, highlight the success of our teaching and learning strategies and affirm our commitment to evidence-based instruction, including the continued implementation of the Orton-Gillingham method.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping every student achieve their personal best. Together, we are building confident, capable learners prepared for the future.
