Hi all
We've had a big week in sport.
ST LOUIS INTRASCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Last Wednesday, our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students travelled to Dolamore Oval for the 2026 St Louis Athletics Carnival. The event was held in perfect conditions, with over 300 athletes jumping hurdles, throwing shot put and passing batons. Each student participated in seven disciplines, as well as the optional 800m.
Win, lose or draw, our St Louis students demonstrated our ethos of trying their best while showing respect and grace, regardless of the result.
This is a significant event that requires extensive planning, setup and marshalling across multiple disciplines. We greatly appreciate the many parents who arrived from 8:00 am to help sweep pits, set up hurdles and prepare the house marquees. A big thanks to Renee, Dee, Lauren, Sabina, Vanessa and any of the other parents who helped out on the day.
We also thank all the parents who attended on the day as spectators to cheer on the students. Your support creates a wonderful atmosphere and gives the children a real sense of excitement.
Finally, this year we had the assistance of the P.E. students from Mentone Girls Secondary College. They were dispersed amongst the many stations and assured we were able to churn through the stations and allow the students plenty of opportunities to make their throws, runs and jumps.
The district team will be selected once we have completed the triple jump and high jump events at school.
SUMMER LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP
On Friday, our Year 6s played in the Chelsea District Summer Lightning Premiership. Our basketball, kickball, cricket and volleyball teams played against local schools in the hope of winning through to the division level. Our boys’ cricket and basketball teams were successful and will compete again in Term 4. Most of the other teams had top-three finishes.
Thank you to the Year 6 teachers and LSOs for their support of the teams throughout the season.
I would particularly like to thank Lorissa B, who took on the role of coaching the girls’ cricket team. This ragtag group of girls came together with little experience of the game and limited time to prepare. What they did have, however, was plenty of spirit, natural ability and a coach willing to embrace their enthusiasm and turn it into something special.
Lorissa did a wonderful job creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for all involved.
On behalf of Macy, Leanke, Holly, Chloe, Emma, Lily, Zoe, Molly, Emily and “Mad Dog”, thank you, Lorissa!
CROSS COUNTRY
This Tuesday, everyone will be running the cross country! The approximate times are:
Please ensure they wear runners and the sports uniform on the day. The kids love a big crowd, so you are all encouraged to come along and watch the runners.
Yours in sport
