In the Classroom
and out and about!
Last term, our Prep and Grade 1 students took part in our much-loved Easter Bonnet Parade, held in the school gym—and what a wonderful event it was!
We were delighted to welcome so many parents and grandparents who came along to enjoy the parade and cheer on our students. It was also lovely to have local kinder groups attend, giving their students a glimpse into the fun and excitement of school life at LPPS.
Our students proudly showcased their creative bonnets, with plenty of colour, imagination, and Easter flair on display. A special touch was our School Captains handing out Easter stickers to some standout creations—well done to all involved!
One of the highlights of the day was seeing our newest Prep students walk in the parade with such pride and excitement. It was a truly special moment for our school community.
A big thank you to Caitlin Rossi for organising such a successful, fun, and family-friendly event.

Also a big thankyou to Ray White for your Easter Hamper Donations

As if the last day of term wasn’t busy enough, we were surprised by a very special visitor on the school grounds!
Phoebe the Alexandrine Parakeet made quite the entrance, initially landing on Elle, one of our lovely Education Support Aides—much to everyone’s surprise! Phoebe was then brought into the front office for a bit of rest and respite from the excitement of the yard, where she quickly made herself comfortable, particularly enjoying time perched on Mrs Stoker’s shoulder for the afternoon.
Alexandrine Parakeets are native to South Asia and are known for being intelligent and social birds—Phoebe certainly lived up to this reputation!
We’re pleased to share that Phoebe was safely returned to her owners after they spotted our post on social media.
A memorable (and feather-filled!) way to wrap up the school term!

Our students have been busy skipping, hopping and jumping their way through our Jump Rope for Heart activities—and what a fantastic effort it has been!
So far, our school community has raised an amazing $1221. to support the life-saving work of the Heart Foundation. This is a wonderful achievement, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm and energy our students have shown.
A friendly reminder to keep the momentum going—don’t forget to JUMP! Every skip counts towards building healthy hearts while raising funds for an important cause.
Thank you to our students and families for your ongoing support. Let’s keep jumping and see how much more we can raise together!

Last term, our Grade 3 students took part in an engaging and hands-on Science incursion as part of their Earth Sciences unit.
Throughout the session, students explored the fascinating relationships between the Earth, Moon and Sun, including their relative sizes and how they move in orbit. A highlight of the incursion was modelling the positions of these celestial bodies to better understand how solar and lunar eclipses occur.
Students participated in a range of interactive activities that deepened their understanding of gravity, day and night, and Earth’s seasons. Guided by passionate science educators, students were encouraged to predict, observe and reflect at each stage, helping to build both their scientific knowledge and curiosity.
It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and excited about learning, with many thoughtful questions and discoveries made along the way.

Year 6 students have begun their unit on Van Gogh. They have worked on a collaborative mural first. They will then create their own Starry Night over the coming

On Thursday 23 April, our school community came together for a whole-school ANZAC Assembly. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country.
It was lovely to see so many students showing their respect by wearing commemorative badges and bringing along flower bouquets. These thoughtful gestures added to the significance of the occasion and demonstrated a genuine understanding of the importance of the day.
A highlight of the assembly was the laying of two special wreaths at our flagpoles. Students then observed a minute of silence, creating a calm and respectful atmosphere across the entire school.
We were extremely proud of all students for the way they conducted themselves during the ceremony. Their maturity and respect truly honoured the spirit of ANZAC and reflected the values we strive to uphold as a school community.

What a fantastic turnout for our annual House Athletics Carnival at Ballam Park — and wasn’t the weather perfect for our athletes!
It was wonderful to see our school community come together once again, with many parents, grandparents, family members and friends in attendance to support our students. Your encouragement from the sidelines played a big part in making the day so special.
Students should be incredibly proud of their efforts, demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and excellent sportsmanship as they rotated through each event. Whether running, jumping or throwing, everyone gave their best and supported one another throughout the day.
Events like these are a great reminder of the strong sense of community we share, and the positive spirit our students bring to everything they do.
A massive thank you to Sue Burt for her leadership in organising this event. Coordinating a day of this scale is no small task, and her hard work and dedication certainly do not go unnoticed.
We would also like to thank the students from EMC who assisted in running activities, along with our teachers and staff who supported the smooth running of the day. It is yet another example of our wonderful community coming together to create memorable experiences for our LPPS students.
Look out for next fortnights newsletter for athletics results
Well done to all involved!
