Out and About the School

Young Leaders Day
On Tuesday 24th April, the Year 6 Leadership Team attended the Halogen Young Leaders Day in Sydney. Here are Georgie Grimm's and Sophie Martin's thoughts about the day:
Standing in a room filled with thousands of other students from all over the state, we realised something important that we were told: leadership isn't just a title you're given; it’s a choice you make every day.
What We Did
The day was packed with energy, from our pump it dance and copy cat with Ezra to get us moving, to hearing from some of Australia’s most incredible role models. We heard from people like:
Nick Hudson, the founder of 'The Push-Up Challenge', who shared the importance of mental fitness and community. A fun fact about him is that he is 1% cow.
Jess Yates shared insights from her career in sports broadcasting—including her work with the NRL, Supercars, and Formula 1—and her new role as a children's author. She had inspiring quotes and funny jokes. She also highlighted how effective communication and the ability to bounce back from challenges are essential for lifting others up.
It was lovely to meet Jacqui Bell, ultra marathon runner. She spoke brilliantly about the importance of perseverance and resilience.
Finally we met the young actress starring as Moana, Catherine, who spoke about having the courage to follow your creativity.
It was such a lovely day and we are very happy that we were able to go.
2027 Kinder Enrolments Are Now Open
Do you have a child or know someone with a child ready for Kindergarten in 2027?
Our enrolment period opened on Tuesday 10th March till Friday 24th April.
IMPORTANT- Allergy Aware- School Lunches
St Xavier's is an Allergy Aware School. We have a number of students who have severe and mild allergies to both peanuts and tree nuts. Please be very conscious of this when packing your child's lunch. The smallest traces can cause a severe anaphylactic reaction. We ask that you do not pack Nutella, peanut butter, other nut butters and nut bars etc for your child to consume at school. Thank you for your understanding.
Pupil Free Days
At St Xavier's, we are committed to providing your children with the most engaging and effective learning environment possible. To maintain this high standard, our teaching staff regularly engages in "Professional Development".
Please note that there will be no school for students on the following days:
- Monday 20th April
- Friday 24th April
- Monday 20th July
- Tuesday 21st July
- Monday 12th October
While the students are away, our teachers become the students, mastering new tools that will be brought directly back into your child's classroom. Research shows that when teachers have the time to refine their craft, student engagement and achievement significantly improve.
