2026 Presentation Ball
Bridgerton was our theme this year, providing glamour with an 1800’s feel. The boys were very handsome, wearing tails and dark blue, whilst the girls looked beautiful in their dresses and accessories.
Libby Collins from Bop 2 It Dance Company created dances using a mixture of contemporary songs and acoustic styles to bring together dance moves which represented the times of Bridgerton. One hundred and three Year 11 students participated in this year’s Presentation Ball, each bringing their own style, yet working together to enjoy their evening. They built an understanding of themselves and what they could achieve, but also, how they can work together as a year level. There was so much laughing and in this, the sense of camaraderie evolved through them all.
Leanne Chester decorated the space in lovely mauves, purples and greys with small starry lighting all enhancing the positive mood of the evening and that of its participants.
The Masters of Ceremony were our College Captains, Jemma Fisher and Abdul Hanafi, who confidently ran proceedings. The debutants were presented to members of leadership in their chosen groups. Once they were all presented, they danced their modern dance to Gone Gone Gone, for their audience.
Both girls and boys presented their own dances, which were expertly directed by Alana Crawford and Kelsey Gray who were instrumental in their instruction for our girls’ and dance, and Sam Nowak, Samuel Phillips and Mac Pendergast, for our boys’ dance. Over the course of each week, they spent lunchtimes training for their own choreographed dances.
The chance to dance with special people in their lives also scaffolded the enjoyment of the evening for our students. This night finished with a beautifully executed Show Dance to the songs, Bridgerton Theme, All I Want, Viva La Vida, DJ Got Us Fallin In Love and Cheap Thrills.
The night was catered for by Vintage Graze - Kayla Hardisty. They were professional and efficient. Their attention to detail was obvious. They were supported by some of our Year 12 students who handed out programs, helped with seating and served food.
We’d like to thank Jemma Fischer and Abdul Hanafi for being enthusiastic as our Masters of Ceremony. A huge thank you to Libby Collins for her patience and direction through the dance training. Thank you to Leanne Chester for setting up the Bishop Phelan Stadium in lovely sparkles and lights to create the Bridgerton feel, and all staff for streamlining many elements behind the scenes, so the evening ran so well.

Year 7 Bridge Challenge
Year 7 students put their engineering skills to the test in our new elective class, Technology Systems! Each group built a bridge that successfully held 18kg.
The following week, Mr Traeger brought more weights to see how much the bridges could hold until failure!
Gippstar Award - Maddi Gilmor
Congratulations to Year 10 student, Maddi Gilmor, who received the January Gippstar Award, recognising her achievements in clay target shooting!
Maddi recently competed in her first major carnival—an annual three-day event in Warrnambool that attracted 177 competitors from across Australia. It was a highly competitive field, where every placing was hard earned.
To her credit, Maddi won her grade in the Champion of Champions event and was named Best Junior in two other events, taking home a prestigious South West Zone sash, two medals, and a range of prizes. During the competition, Maddi faced equipment issues that threatened to disrupt her goal of shooting consistently. However, she remained composed and responded strongly, demonstrating impressive resilience.
She was also praised by well-known athletes within the sport for her maturity, demeanour, and technique—an outstanding achievement for such an inexperienced athlete. Well done Maddi!

Sport Academy
Gippsland Mobile Tech School worked with our Year 9 and 10 Academy students to complete their athlete testing.
Students took part in a range of assessments, including speed, vertical jump, and reaction time, giving them valuable insights into their current performance and helping set benchmarks for future improvement.
These types of tests mirror those undertaken by professional athletes, providing students with an authentic, high-performance experience as they continue to develop their skills.
Our VCE VM students opened the VM Cafe for the first time in 2026 today!
Now in its third year, this initiative gives VM students the chance to develop workplace skills, teamwork, and learn what it takes to run a small business.
The cafe is open to staff at recess throughout the term, where they can purchase barista-made coffees and snacks prepared by our Small Business students.
Lilly Monck
Congratulations to Year 9 student Lilly Monck, who has successfully completed the NIDA “On Stage and Screen” course.
Lilly has also been selected again as an Ambassador for the Gippsland Stars Dance Competition in 2026 — an incredible achievement!
To top it off, she delivered an outstanding performance at her most recent competition. We are so proud of you, Lilly!
