The second week of Term 2 is off to a smooth and positive start, with students quickly settling back into learning routines and classrooms buzzing with purposeful engagement. It has been great to see strong learning momentum already building across the school, alongside a continued focus on wellbeing, relationships and high expectations for all students.

We are looking forward to our Year 5 & 6 Camp, which will take place from Monday to Wednesday next week at Phillip Island. Students will participate in a range of exciting adventure activities, including the flying fox, giant swing, and canoeing, as well as visit the iconic Penguin Parade. This experience provides valuable opportunities for teamwork, independence and challenge in a memorable outdoor setting. Further information will be shared in the next newsletter.

Interschool Sports has re-commenced, please refer to the Fixture in this newsletter.

ANZAC Day Commemoration

Last Saturday marked ANZAC Day, a significant time for reflection and remembrance across our community and nation. At EVPS, our student leaders led a respectful commemoration on Friday, reading the Ode of Remembrance and helping our school pause to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand service men and women, past and present. It was a meaningful occasion for both students and staff.

Foundation 2026 Information Evening

Last night we hosted our Foundation 2027 Information Evening, welcoming a number of families. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with many of our newest families and share what makes our school such an amazing and supportive learning community. Feedback from the evening was overwhelmingly positive, and we are excited to begin building these new connections as we prepare for 2027.

As a government school, enrolments are accepted in line with our designated neighbourhood zone. Students residing within our zone are guaranteed a place, while out-of-zone applications are considered based on available places and Department of Education guidelines. Families outside our zone are encouraged to apply, and all applications are assessed in line with enrolment capacity. Further information about the enrolment process is available on our website.

Attitudes to School Survey (AToSS)

Each year during Term 2, the Department of Education supports schools to conduct the Attitudes to School Survey. This important survey provides valuable insight into students’ experiences and perceptions of school life, helping us continue to improve student engagement, wellbeing, and learning outcomes. Students from Year 4-6 will particpate in the survey in Week 5. Addtional information will be provided to the families of participating students shortly.

Seesaw

Seesaw continues to be a valuable platform for sharing classroom learning. If you haven’t yet logged in, we encourage you to do so to stay connected with your child’s learning journey. Families can access photos, videos, and updates from both classroom and specialist teachers, offering a meaningful insight into daily school life.

If you require assistance accessing Seesaw, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

Swimming Program

This week the Swimming Program commenced for students in Years 1 and 3.  This Victorian Government initiative supports the delivery of high-quality swimming and water safety education for all students prior to completing primary school, with a key goal of developing essential water safety skills, including the ability to swim 50 metres by the time they leave Primary School.

Road Safety Reminder

A reminder to all families about the importance of road safety around our school. Please avoid stopping on the road or pulling into nearby driveways to drop off or collect children, as this creates unsafe conditions for students and other road users. We strongly encourage all students to use the supervised crossing when arriving and leaving school and ask adults to lead by example by following road rules and modelling safe behaviours.
