Secondary Community News

Upper Secondary (Years 9-10)

We have had a busy few weeks in the 9/10 department.

Students have been preparing for the launch of our student run café. This week, students brainstormed name ideas for our café. Eventually, we decided on ‘Café 3021’, to represent the postcode in which our school is situated. Moving forward, we will soon begin to design a logo, along with some tshirts for our students to wear in the café. We look forward to sharing the final designs with you!

We are also preparing for our first round of excursions. We have been discussing Travel Training rules and expectations. We are looking forward to getting out into the community to practice our skills!

We have been working hard in class, and we are trying to find books that interest us to support us with our reading. We have been doing lots of fun activities, and trying out various types of books to work out what we like to read!

9/10D have been working hard to complete the bus lists independently. Students are required to safely navigate the school, practice appropriate greeting and communication skills, to be able to complete the task. The students are doing a great job and are becoming more and more independent each day!

Students in 11/12D have started their travel training program with a lovely visit to Williamstown Beach. The students worked with their teacher to plan and prepare for the journey. Everyone had a great day.

Meanwhile, 11/12E have started their work experience program at the Sunshine Hospital. The staff and students worked together to prune the trees, weed, water and tidy the garden. Everyone has made an excellent start. Well done team!
