Wellbeing Hub - What is POD?

POD

You may have started to hear the word ‘POD’. This is new and exciting in 2025!

Why POD’s?

A ‘POD’ means a small group of people with a purpose or goal. We can also apply this to a pod of dolphins in our Monivae context, with the dolphins being part of our Monivae crest.

There was no homeroom structure in 2024. Feedback received from students, families and staff was that there was a big gap in our pastoral and student wellbeing needs with the absence of homeroom. Therefore, POD was created in 2025 to align with our new four House names and to promote a new house culture.

How does it look?

Year 7 class POD’s with POD teachers.

House based – Piperon, Issoudon, Hartzer and Treand

Year 8-12’s in POD group with around 11-14 students in each POD.

When is POD time?

POD time is scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.03am to 9.18am (15 minutes).

Tuesday is when year level meetings occur for the whole school.

What happens in POD time?

Prayer, attendance roll, activities and games, inter-house and house challenges and an opportunity to develop friendships with other students. Sacred Heart Day and Mission Fair Day planning and events will also be a part of POD time.
