Grade 2 Community News

Dear Grade 2 Families,

What a fantastic start to the year we’ve had! The students have settled in beautifully, and our classroom is buzzing with learning, laughter, and lots of exciting discoveries. Here’s what we’ve been up to!

English

We’ve jumped into our InitiaLit lessons and have already mastered some tricky digraphs: ai, ay, ea, ee, oa, and ow! The students are loving these lessons and are becoming pros at the routines.

Exciting news—students have started bringing home Take-Home Readers! We’re on a mission to reach 50 nights of reading by the end of the term. Keep up the great work, and let’s aim for those certificates!

Our little writers have been busy exploring different sentence types and learning how to use conjunctions to make their writing even more interesting. Handwriting is also a big focus, and we’re practicing those letter formations to make sure our work is neat and legible.

Maths

We’ve been reviewing addition and building confidence with our number skills. Another big focus has been working cooperatively—whether in pairs or small groups, we are learning to listen, take turns, and support each other in our learning.

Meet and Greet Success!

A huge thank you to all the families who attended our Meet and Greet! It was wonderful to share how well the students have settled in and to connect with you all. Your support is truly appreciated!

Reminders

•    Reading every night - Every book counts towards our 50-night challenge!

 •    Label school uniforms - Lost jumpers are much easier to find when they have a name!  •    Hats on! - The sun is shining, and hats are a must when playing outside.

•    Arrive on time - Being ready to learn from the start of the day makes a huge difference.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Let’s keep up the fantastic work, Grade 2!
