Physical Education News

Dear Parents and Families,
We have continued the amazing, positive start to 2025. The students have continued to build on their fundamental skills and develop their understanding of the various games they have been playing which is wonderful to see. As always, please continue to send us photos of your superstars of the week so we can celebrate your amazing sporting achievements.
Superstar of the week
Well done to Sierra for her efforts at her athletics club where she broke the record for shotput! In addition, Sierra came 3rd in discus and 10th in the 200m. Amazing to see and keep up the great work!
Preps, Grade 1 and Grade 2
The Preps and Grade 1s have been working on their running techniques, practising their opposite arm-opposite leg movements and using the balls of their feet. Students have also showcased their understanding of balance to be able to successfully demonstrate the key components of the magic shoebox.

Grade 3 and Grade 4
The Grade 3s and 4s have continued their great start with net and wall games. Students have identified how their positions on the downball court can allow them to play shots which move their opponents around. They have also established the rules to downball and started playing in groups of four to a very high level.
Grade 5 and 6
The Grade 5’s have continued with badminton, understanding how holding their position in the middle of the playing area gives them the best chance of returning the shuttlecock. Students have worked on smashes and backhands, selecting shots that will deliberately move their opponent away from their stronger side.
The Grade 6’s have made great progress in tennis by alternating between different shots. They have been working on both forehand and backhand, understanding that both can be used in offensive and defensive shots.
