Visual Arts News

Hello Families,
We’ve had a wonderful start to the year, and it has been a pleasure getting to know all the students as we embark on our visual arts journey. Below is a glimpse into the exciting art projects each class has been working on so far!
Grade Prep
The Preps have been settling into the art room environment and learning how to demonstrate our school values through their creative work. They’ve been practicing safe and effective use of materials and resources, and have already completed a guided drawing activity that showcased their growing skills.
Grade 1 and 2
Our Grade 1 and 2 students have been exploring line and colour through their jellyfish artworks. This project has allowed them to express their creativity while deepening their understanding of these key art concepts.
Grade 3 and 4
The Grade 3 and 4 students have delved into the world of positive and negative space through the intricate patterns of Henna art. They have enjoyed exploring this traditional form and experimenting with how patterns and shapes interact.
Grade 5 and 6
The Grade 5 and 6 students have focused on using line effectively, guided through a step-by-step drawing exercise. In addition, they completed an observational drawing using oil pastels, where they explored the relationship between light and shadow, carefully adding value to bring depth and dimension to their work.
