Performing Arts News

Hi Tarneit Rise families,
This fortnight students in Prep students have been practising improvised dance which is dance that you make up as you listen to music. Grade 1-6 have been analysing dances they have watched in class.
Prep students have been exploring the different areas of Performing Arts by dancing to songs both with guided actions and using improvisation to make up the dance as they listen to the song. They have practised the hello song using both their beautiful singing voices and percussion instruments.
In Grade 1 students have explored dancing with emotions by changing how they move their body while they dance to show emotions and using facial expressions while dancing. They have explored why people dance, where they dance and how dance is connected to cultures in week 4.
The Grade 2 students explored dances around the world and how these dances impact culture. In week 4 students analysed cultural dances focusing on why people dance, where they dance and how dance is connected to cultures.
In Grade 3 students used their prior knowledge to discuss what they have learnt about the elements of dance. Students have used this knowledge to analyse different dances from around the world.
In week 3 the Grade 4 students used their prior knowledge about the elements of dance: Body, Action, Space, Time and Energy to analyse dances that incorporated different dance styles such as contemporary dance combined with elements of Aboriginal dance styles. They explored how to make their own choreography in week 4 focusing on using elements of dance in their choreography.
The Grade 5 students used their prior knowledge to analyse the elements of dance: Body, Action, Space, Time, Energy and Relationship in different dance styles such as ballet, Aboriginal and contemporary dance. In week 4 students worked together as a class to create a dance focused on a theme or storyline chosen by the class. They picked dance actions and music that matches their chosen theme or storyline to create a dance that communicates these ideas.
In week 3 the Grade 6 students used their prior knowledge to analyse the elements of dance: Body, Action, Space, Time, Energy and Relationship in dances from a range of different styles such as Aboriginal and contemporary dance. They practised making their own choreography in week 4 focusing on using elements of dance in their choreography.
