Grade 6 Community News

We’ve had another amazing couple of weeks here in Grade 6! The students have been working hard and making great progress in all subjects. From exploring complex sentences in writing to analysing charts in math, their enthusiasm and dedication are truly shining through. We’ve also started an exciting new journey with our class novel Freak the Mighty, and it's been wonderful to see the students engage with the story. We can’t wait to see what the next couple of weeks have in store!

Reading:

This term, we will be studying the novel Freak the Mighty. Each week, we will read the novel together as a class and discuss different aspects of the story. Over the past two weeks, our focus has been on examining the narration style and tone, and how these elements influence the story.

Writing:

Every Monday, we focus on developing syntax skills in our writing lessons. This week, we've been concentrating on complex sentences, practicing both writing and identifying them. For the rest of the week, we've shifted our focus to realistic fiction, tying it back to our class novel.

Maths:

In Mathematics, we’ve been learning how to interpret and create various charts and graphs, including line graphs, bar charts, and column charts. We’ve also been focusing on analysing the data more deeply by identifying the mode, frequency, and range of the information.

Sport:

All Grade 6 students will be participating in sport fortnightly on Tuesday afternoons, giving them the opportunity to represent the school as part of a team. This term, Cricket, Basketball, T-Ball, Tennis, and Volleyball teams will be selected to compete against other local schools.

Please ensure your child is appropriately dressed in their sporting uniform, including a school hat, so they can participate fully. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
