A Message from the Principal
Mrs Pauline Long
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome Back BBQ & Parent Information Night
It was pleasing to see many families attend our welcome back BBQ and Parent Information Night last Tuesday. Thank you to our dedicated teaching staff for the time and effort you devoted to your presentations.
School Swimming Carnival
What a wonderful day we all had at our annual swimming carnival. Once again the support from our families was amazing. Thank you to Mrs Bartholomew for her organisation; to our PT & F led by Ashleigh Stevenson and to our students for your enthusiastic participation.
Good luck to those who will be competing at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival in Gunnedah on Friday 28th February : Sienna Thompson, Ryder Hird, Andy Bartholomew, Tayla Jamieson, Phoebe Shultz, Billie Peach & Lottie Woods.
Contacting School Staff
Please be mindful of when you email school staff, especially classroom teachers. I ask that you only send emails between 8.30am - 4.00pm and give staff time to respond. You can write an email at night and schedule it to be sent the next day. Thank you for your understanding in this important matter.
NAPLAN
Naplan is coming up in two weeks time for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. This assessment is not something to be stressed about as it is only one way teachers determine student needs and progress in learning. If you would like more information please contact your child's teacher.
Students will participate in tests for writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
NAPLAN 2025 will take place from Wednesday 12 March to Monday 24 March. NAPLAN is just one part of our school’s learning assessment program. The tests assess literacy and numeracy skills your child is already learning at school, so the best preparation is their everyday classroom learning. Our school will also undertake activities to help students become familiar with the types of questions and tools available in the online tests.
The public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) is available for you to see the format of the online tests.
Further information about NAPLAN is available on the NESA website(https://www.nsw.gov.au/education-and-training/nesa/naplan) and the NAP website(https://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/for-parents-carers). If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact your child’s teacher.
Have a wonderful week
