A huge thank you to our wonderful parent community
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the many parents and carers who generously took boxes of books home, both recently and throughout 2025, to cover new texts for our upcoming novel studies. This was no small task - it was a huge undertaking! - and the time, care and commitment you gave has made an enormous difference for our students, both next year and well into the future.
Many hands truly did make light work, and we are also so grateful to those who bravely took on multiple boxes. Your efforts have saved countless hours and ensured our students will have access to a rich range of engaging texts that will have longevity over many years to come.
We hope there were a few cosy reading moments along the way… and perhaps even the discovery of a new TV show or two while you were at it!
Thank you again for your generosity, teamwork, and ongoing support of learning at our school.

Farewell Newport From QB Michelle
17 years…17 incredible and amazing years of caring, nurturing and educating your beautiful children, who I affectionately call, 'My kids'. 17 years that have meant the absolute world to me…more than any of you will ever truly know!!
It hasn’t always been about me educating the children; in many ways, they have educated me. They have taught me countless life lessons that I will carry with me forever.
I have so many wonderful and treasured memories of caring for and educating countless children at Newport Lakes, some of which still come to visit me, all these years later!! I have nurtured strong relationships with not only the children, but also their families. Thank you for entrusting me with the care and education of your beautiful children over these 17 years, its is a role that I have taken very seriously, and one that I’ve led with my whole heart.
Although this chapter is coming to an end, and I will no longer be a part of the Newport Lakes community, Newport Lakes, the children and their Families will always be my home and forever hold a very special place in my heart. It has been an absolute honour to watch your children grow, laugh, learn, and discover who they are. I will miss them more than you know!!
I’d like to share a few lyrics from one of my favourite songs, 'You’ll Be in My Heart' by Phil Collins, which beautifully expresses how I feel.
“Come stop your crying
It will be alright
Just take my hand
Hold it tight
I will protect you
From all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry
For one so small
You seem so strong
My arms will hold you
Keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry
'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more
You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart always”
