Year 7 Technology Mandatory

This semester, Year 7 designed and constructed their own lamps, combining traditional and modern technologies. Students worked with timber to build the base, used laser-cut acrylic for decorative panels, and assembled LED lighting circuits to bring their designs to life. They also applied principles from engineering and digital systems, testing and refining their ideas throughout the process. All components were securely fixed using screws and mechanical fasteners.

The finished lamps were creative, functional, and a great showcase of the students’ growing skills and confidence in Technology. Year 7 should be very proud of their work!

Year 9 Design & Technology – Urban Café Design

This semester, Year 9 Design & Technology students completed an exciting urban café design project. They began by sketching their initial ideas, then moved into digital systems, using Floorplanner to create detailed 2D and 3D layouts of their café concepts. Students then brought their designs to life by using Adobe Illustrator and the laser cutter, along with workshop machinery and equipment, to construct a scaled wooden model of their café. Their work was supported by a comprehensive portfolio documenting their research, café theme, branding, and logo development. This project was a fantastic experience for our Year 9 students, who thoroughly enjoyed each stage of the design process from concept to creation.

Year 10 Design & Technology – Marquetry Coasters

This semester, Year 10 Design & Technology students produced beautifully crafted marquetry coasters, showcasing patience, precision, and strong design thinking. Students began by selecting a theme, sketching and annotating their ideas, and developing refined design concepts. They then worked with delicate wood veneers, carefully cutting and assembling their intricate marquetry patterns, a process that required focus, accuracy, and resilience.

Once their designs were complete, students mounted their marquetry onto laser-cut coaster bases, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. This was a challenging yet rewarding unit, and our Year 10 students should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

I am also deeply grateful for the students choosing to continue into Year 11 Design and Technology, where they will further develop their skills through their HSC Major Design Projects. Their dedication and creativity are truly commendable.

Year 12 Multimedia Project Proposals

Our Year 12 Multimedia students have recently presented their project proposals, and the creativity on display was impressive. Students shared a wide range of exciting concepts, demonstrating strong planning, originality, and technical ambition.

The proposed projects span across multiple media formats, including short films, animations, magazines, and websites. Each idea showed clear purpose and thoughtful consideration of audience, style, and production techniques.

With such great ideas already in place, we can’t wait to see how these projects develop as students move into the production stage. It’s an exciting time for Year 12 Multimedia, and we look forward to seeing where their creativity takes them.

Hospitality

Year 11 Hospitality students have successfully completed their preliminary assessments and their first work placement, providing them with a strong foundation as they progress into their HSC course.

Our Year 12 Hospitality students have now completed their HSC examinations and are eagerly awaiting their results. We wish Year 12 all the very best and congratulate them on their future endeavours.
