Foundation
Our Foundation students are continuing their Mighty Heroes program, learning about how we can be safe and kind online. Over the next two weeks, students will explore simple coding activities that help them understand how computers follow instructions, all while practising teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Year 1/2
The Year 1/2 students are beginning an exciting new project creating replica computers! They’ll be exploring the role of each component, such as the screen, keyboard, and mouse and discovering how these parts work together to make a digital system. Through hands-on building and discussion, students will deepen their understanding of how technology connects to our everyday lives.
Year 3
Year 3 students are entering the testing phase of their Desk Pet Clubhouse builds. Over the next fortnight, they’ll test how strong, safe, and welcoming their designs are and complete reflection sheets explaining why they chose specific materials. This helps students think like engineers, identifying what worked well and what could be improved for their desk pet’s comfort and safety.
Year 4
Our Year 4 students are putting the finishing touches on their Makey Makey projects. From arcade games to musical instruments, their creations are coming to life as they connect circuits and test how inputs and outputs interact. Students will review and refine their builds, preparing to showcase their final interactive designs.
Year 5
The Year 5 students are continuing their Creating a Better World projects. Many groups are now in the construction and testing phase, creating prototypes of inclusive playgrounds, sensory toys, and innovative environmental solutions. Some groups are even 3D printing components like boats designed to collect rubbish from waterways!
Year 6
Our Year 6 students are finalising their Minecraft housing projects, tracking their spending and ensuring their builds meet the requirements of their design brief. Over the next fortnight, they’ll analyse their budget data and begin creating real estate advertisements to promote their properties. We are learning how to blend creativity, design and digital communication skills.
