Blue Edge lights and sirens visit
What a big year it’s been for wellbeing at CHS! Our students jumped into a huge range of programs, workshops and events designed to build confidence, connection and life skills. Here are just some of the highlights from 2025:
This year, an awesome group of Year 7, 8 and 9 students took part in the I CAN Mentoring Program. It was a fun, inclusive space to build teamwork, communication and leadership skills. We loved seeing students grow and cheer each other on. Good news: it’s back for 2026!
On Friday 21 March, CHS joined schools across Victoria for Ride2School Day. Students rolled, walked, and skated their way to school, bringing great energy to a morning focused on health, movement and community spirit.

A group of Year 9s took part in the CORE Program with School Focused Youth Services. Through fitness challenges, group discussions and reflection activities, students strengthened emotional regulation, discipline, self-esteem and decision-making skills, all while supporting each other in a positive environment.
Selected Year 9 students participated in a full-day Flourish Journey workshop, diving into topics like Understanding Self, Healthy Relationships and Stepping Into Our Power. The day offered practical tools, empowering conversations and a chance for students to reflect on who they are and who they’re becoming.
Year 7 and 9 students attended an engaging MINUS18 session that explored LGBTQIA+ identities, empathy, respectful relationships and how to support peers safely. Students responded incredibly positively to the real stories and discussions.
Years 7, 8 and 9 were treated to a dynamic live performance on cyberbullying and ethical behaviour. Brainstorm Productions tackled online safety with humour, drama and reflection, followed by a Q&A and curriculum-linked activities.
Families joined us for a special information evening with the Salvation Army and Northern Community Legal Centre, covering gaming, gambling, consent, social media and legal awareness.

Tomorrow Man / Tomorrow Woman
Our Year 9 cohort took part in the powerful Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman workshops, challenging stereotypes, exploring healthy gender expectations and empowering young people to use their voices confidently.
A whole-school favourite! We celebrated with yellow-themed fun, a BBQ, cookies and meaningful classroom activities that encouraged students to check in on one another and look after their mental health.

A lively group of Year 7s completed the Blue EDGE Program, an activity-based program run with Blue Light Victoria, Victoria Police and Emergency Services. Through teamwork and fitness, students built skills in communication, problem-solving, collaboration and self-awareness.

Selected Year 9 students participated in an 8-week YMCA program at Coburg Leisure Centre, focusing on movement, healthy habits, confidence and positive body image. Students gave fantastic feedback about how empowering and supportive the sessions felt.
In partnership with the Northern Community Legal Centre, students explored gender equity and the prevention of violence against women, building awareness and fostering positive change in our school community.

Mental health resources for students and families are available outside of school throughout the holidays, including fact sheets in 19 languages.
