Smoking Ceremony Newsletter Piece

On the morning of the smoking ceremony we all came to school excited and ready to get the smoking ceremony started. Before Assembly we met Jungala and Eric and helped set up the class lanes. Once the classes arrived it was finally our big moment, our really important reading at assembly.  There were a few nervous butterflies flying around in our stomachs, but we quickly got rid of them and we did great. Next Jungala spoke a bit about himself he then handed the microphone to his Uncle Eric. We then got to walk through the smoke. We were letting all the bad spirits away. After assembly we helped put out the fire and said goodbye to Eric and Jungala, before heading back to class. We thought it was really fun and hope that we can do it again.
