On Friday the 22nd of March our school was lucky enough to hold Harmony Day! When St Joseph’s didn’t have a parish priest, we had Fr Burns help us by saying our Masses and teaching us about Jesus. Fr Burns taught us to be kind and generous, particularly to those in need. Mrs Tobin and Fr Burns decided to start Harmony day to help people in Timor Leste.

Harmony Day and the work in Timor Leste is a special passion for Fr Burns. He reminds us that Jesus taught us to give generously to those in need. Timor Leste is a very poor country who have high rates of disease, particularly TB. Our money goes to supporting the people with their health, education and housing. This year we raised money for a household of disabled children since their home was recently destroyed by a tree that fell on the property during a storm. The tree ended up destroying their house. We hoped to raise enough money to repair their home so these children have somewhere to live again. Our school ended up raising nearly 3,000 Dollars for the kids and has helped them rebuild their protected and safe residence once again!

Each class prepared two stalls with fun activities, food, and contests! In the lead up to the big day, the class would bring in supplies for their stall and prepare. It was a fantastic and social experience, That brought smiles and laughter to everyone's faces. It was a chance for the students to experience business and help others.

Some of the stalls that were a big hit this year were Donut on a String, Feel the Box, Bake Sale, and Guess the Lolly in the Jar.
