YEAR 12 FRENCH CLASS VISIT TO CAULFIELD JUNIOR COLLEGE
Recently, our Year 12 French students had the wonderful opportunity to visit Caulfield Junior College, a local bilingual French-English primary school. The day started with our students delivering a 15-minute presentation on New Caledonia, entirely in French. It was inspiring to see how confidently they tackled the topic, and the primary school students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions about New Caledonia and all in French.
Beyond the topic of New Caledonia, the primary students were also curious about what it’s like to be in Year 12. They asked about everything from Year 12 jumpers to whether our students could drive yet. There was a lively exchange, with our students happily sharing their experiences and insights.
Following the Q&A session, our Year 12s joined in the primary school’s morning activities, many of which were conducted in French, including a music lesson. It was a refreshing change of pace for our students, who really enjoyed interacting with the younger students. By the end of the visit, many of our Year 12s found themselves reminiscing about their own primary school days, especially with the upcoming exams on their minds.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Caulfield Junior College for their warm welcome and for providing such a valuable experience. We look forward to more opportunities like this in the future!

YEAR 10 FRENCH THEATRE TRIP
To further broaden our understanding of the French language and culture, the two Year 10 classes were given the opportunity to enjoy a French Theatre Outing. On Friday 9 August, both classes began their days in the city, exploring the different landmarks around the city. Guided by an engaging French audio tour, this immersive approach allowed us to navigate and appreciate various historic sites while practising our language skills. After spending a couple of hours in the city, we were able to grab lunch from nearby French restaurants, savouring the authentic cuisine that complemented our cultural adventure.
The afternoon led us to Carlton, where we attended a captivating French play. This theatrical experience provided a perfect conclusion to our day, enriching our knowledge of French culture and offering a memorable connection to the language we’ve been studying. The play explored the captivating love story set in the 1700’s. With the whole play being narrated in French, this really challenged our listening and understanding skills and put this vital skill into practice. Overall, the day was a great success, offering both cultural and educational enrichment. Many of us found the combination of city exploration, exquisite French cuisine, and the theatrical performance to be an unforgettable and enjoyable experience!
Thank you to Madame Antal and Madame Nonaka for organising this experience.
