Sport
It’s been a very busy fortnight in PE! Here are some of the highlights,
Run Club
It has been fantastic seeing such a high level of participation continue at our Run Club each Tuesday and Thursday morning, we have had over 475 students across the school participate so far this year. We wanted to give a special congratulation to Will D in Level 6 who is the first student to complete 100 laps in 2024, over 60km of running in 8 weeks!
Whitehorse Division Swimming
On Wednesday, the 6th of March, some of our Level 3-6 students attended the Whitehorse Division swimming carnival. We were extremely proud of all the students' efforts on the day against very tough competition. Many of our students set new Personal Best times, and they can’t wait to continue to grow their swimming skills ahead of our Rangeview Swimming Carnival in 2025. Our Under 11 Boys' 4x50m freestyle relay team finished 3rd in the Division with a time of 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Great job!
Level 6 Camp Coonawarra
Earlier this month, I was very fortunate to attend the Level 6 Camp at Coonawarra in Gippsland along with our 110 wonderful Level 6 students. The students had the best time and set a great example in their behaviour, effort, and positive attitude. The weather was truly amazing, and the students will come back with memories to last a lifetime. Thank you to all the staff and parent volunteers who contributed to the success of the week.
PE Sessions & Friday Sports
During our sport sessions this fortnight, we have been working on throwing, aiming, catching, and sprinting with our Prep-2 students, while our Level 3-6 students have been continuing to grow their skills in triple jump, relays, and hurdles ahead of our Athletics carnival early in Term 2. In our Friday sports sessions, our Level 4s have concluded their T-Ball clinics, while our Level 5/6s have selected their inter-school sports ahead of the winter sport season.
Swimming Lessons – 2024
In Term 2, our Level 1-6 students will all attend a 5-day intensive swimming program at Aqualink Nunawading. This program, provided by Just Swimming, is designed to increase water safety skills, physical fitness, confidence in water, and help students build lifelong water skills. Foundation lessons will run in Term 4.
