Today is a great day to be you!
Next Monday, March 25th, is our school photos day!
All classes will have their photos taken as a group and individual portraits, and you also have an opportunity to order sibling photos - please remember these need to be ordered online prior to the day. Our student leadership group will also have their photos taken on Monday.
We are now deep into preparations for our Harmony Day celebrations!
Whilst Harmony Day was officially yesterday, March 21st, we will be holding our own Harmony Day on the last day of term - Thursday March 28th.
As always, we encourage all of our students to dress up in either:
We will begin the day by creating a whole school shape on the oval, followed by a whole school assembly in the gym (from approximately 9:40am-10:40am).
Classes will then participate in a 'Cultural Feast', Harmony Day activities across the day, before a wonderful celebration of Bollywood dancing from 2:00pm-2:30pm out on the grassphalt area, when students will be dismissed for the school holidays.
Community members are welcome to come and join us for the Harmony Day assembly and the Bollywood dancing!
We caught up with our school liaison, Phoebe, from The Resilience Project earlier this week to reflect on our start to the year. We are very happy with how TRP has been rolled out across the school and we are looking forward to exploring opportunities to further embed the values of TRP into the school community.
With this in mind, we are keen to hear some feedback from families. We would love to encourage you to have some conversations at home about TRP and some possible learnings that your children have gained. Do they feel they know more about Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness now? Can they share a strategy or idea about how they self-regulate when they feel angry or frustrated? Have you noticed your children showing a better understanding of emotions and the ability to label and talk about emotions?
If you would like to share any feedback about TRP, please send any responses to liam.sommers@education.vic.gov.au.
Last Saturday, RAFT (RAngeview Fathering Tribe) ran a wonderful first family event for 2024 - a bike ride and BBQ. A large group of participants met at the school on their bikes and rode to Bayswater Park, where they enjoyed a sausage sizzle, a play at the park and some great company!
Thank you to our three RAFT leaders - Simon, Tim and Byron - and for everyone else who made the effort to get along to make it such a successful event.
Next up for RAFT is the School Camp Out! This event was incredibly attended at our previous version at the end of 2022. Please see the flyer below for details and scan the QR code to register. It would be great to see the oval full of tents once again!
To set the scene on the night, our RAFT leaders have set the challenge for attendees to 'light up their tents'! We would love to create a festive spirit and we encourage you to bring along items such as fairy lights and glow sticks, and create a bit of a party atmosphere.
The Camp Out will include games, group activities, a camp fire, pizza dinner, BBQ breakfast... and possibly a few other things!
It's sure to be a wonderful night to socialise and enjoy the company of fellow Rangeview families. Please note: Children attending must have a parent/guardian with them at all times - it is not a 'drop and go' event or an event supervised by Rangeview staff.
Thank you to all of our Rangeview community members who came out last Sunday morning to assist us at our termly Working Bee. We had a huge numbers of volunteers - probably our largest group in a couple of years - and all jobs were completed in record time! More hands makes light work.
Our students in attendance also did a wonderful job moving around the school collecting rubbish - we really appreciate the help! Our school grounds are looking fantastic.
