What a fabulous two weeks we have had at Rangeview. Our Level 3 and Level 5 students have completed their NAPLAN assessments in Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Language Conventions, our Foundation students have been given their German Schultuten by their Level 6 buddies, Level 3/4 Book Club ran in the Library, Level 4 T-ball clinics were held, the Term 1 Working Bee was held, we ran the Rangeview Fathering Tribe (RAFT) Bike Ride and then Fathers Night, there were a number of Student Support Group Meetings, and our Principal Class team attended the Term 1 Riversdale Principal Network Meeting.
On Thursday Liam Sommers, Kate McLeod and I attended the Riversdale Principal Network meeting in Mount Waverly. We heard from Justin Robinson and David Bott of the Wellbeing Distillery and learned about the implementation of high impact wellbeing strategies. They unpacked their strategic design for wellbeing process which allows school leadership teams to leverage core values, cultural perspectives, and current realities to craft unique wellbeing visions for their school.
We also had a session on middle leader development and collaborative problem solving communities, and then an afternoon session on Occupational Health and Safety and Wellbeing Management for staff.
On Sunday 17th March we held our Term 1 Working Bee. A huge thank you to all the families that made it to school for the morning to help spread soft fall, fresh sand for sandpits and weeding and pruning. Thanks to Mr O'Neil and Mr Barr for their efforts on the day - Mr Barr even managed to get the new sound baffles up in the STEM Gallery.
We were able to use the new Outdoor Kitchen for the thank you BBQ - it is just a fabulous resource and much appreciated by our hungry families!
Once each term we have a whole school celebration day. This term we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Thursday 28th March. There will be a focus on cultural diversity and students will be working on activities and lessons that educate and celebrate our community’s cultural diversity. We encourage our students to come to school in a costume that represents their cultural heritage or in the colour orange, bring some food to share, and we will have a whole school assembly to begin the day in the gym.
We will end the day with a whole school Bollywood dance workshop run by one of our talented parents – Palak Parikh. Parents are also welcome to come to the grassphalt to observe this celebration - and join in!
On Tuesday 19th March we had a professional photographer from Digital Schools come to RPS to take some promotional photos for our school website. A range of students (with parent consent) took part in this photoshoot which was a lot of fun. Look out for our new updated website in the new term.
On Tuesday this week the whole school practiced an emergency evacuation drill. Our Warden Liam Sommers ran a very successful Code Green and we all evacuated out to the oval.
In the event of an emergency, Rangeview Families will be notified via COMPASS email and also as a COMPASS push notification. The school has a detailed Emergency Management Plan and student safety and wellbeing is our top priority.
