Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to another fabulous week at St Joseph's! We hope you all enjoyed a happy, holy Easter break with family and friends. As we approach the end of another successful term we would like to acknowledge the students and staff for their wonderful efforts in completing our recent NAPLAN assessments which is just one form of assessment that we use to guide our teaching and learning for our students. Everything, including the technology went smoothly and teachers reported how the students did their very best. We hope the results will be with us in a timely manner so we can use the data effectively to support each and every child with their learning.

We are pleased to announce that we have a new Canteen Supervisor - Ms Sarah Bogie. Sarah will be opening the canteen on Mondays and Fridays this year. Please see the General Information section of this newsletter for further details regarding the canteen.

Stations of the Cross

Thank you to Mrs Mitchell and our Stage 3 students for organising and leading the 'Stations of the Cross' for our students last Thursday. It was a truly beautiful way to take time and reflect upon the Easter message which is dedicated to commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ over the long weekend.

Easter Hat Parade 2024

The Easter Hat Parade is a time-honoured tradition that many of our students look forward to as they get ready to celebrate the joy and happiness of the Easter break.  It is a wonderful opportunity to show off their creativity by designing and wearing a unique and festive hat.

This year's Easter Hat Parade was no exception as our students showed their excitement and enthusiasm as they took part. From elaborate and intricate designs to simple yet charming hats, there was no shortage of imagination and creativity on display. It was wonderful to come together as a whole school community to take part in this fabulous fun-filled event.

Congratulations to all our students who participated in the Easter Hat Parade. Every one of you should be very proud of your remarkable creations and artistic talent. Thank you to the parents and carers for your generous support and assistance to make this a very special occasion for students and staff.

Every Day Counts

Education is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier as they are able to build on what was learned the day before. Just one day missed per fortnight equates to one whole year over a child's school life!

Arriving at school on time is also important. Classes start at 8:45am so students should arrive at least ten minutes prior to this to ensure they have time to put their bags away and greet their friends. Arriving after the bell disrupts the flow of the class, and important daily reminders and learning opportunities are missed.

Schools, in partnerships with families, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students and for ensuring that non-attendance is addressed effectively. Thank you for prioritising your children’s attendance at school and please do not hesitate to contact us if your require support in this area.

As this is our last newsletter for the term, we would like to thank our incredible staff, the enthusiasm and commitment of our students, and the ongoing support and partnership with you, our parents and caregivers, for such a wonderful term. We wish you all a safe and relaxing school holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone return to school on Monday, 29th April to begin Term 2.

May God bless you and your family,

Maree Holland & Greg O'Toole
