Spiritual Connections

Loving God,

We lift our hearts to You.

Behold, you make echoes in our hearts:

“I make all things new!”

Renew our lives, cleans our spirits, and guide us with Your love.

In Your loving transformation, may we find strength, hope, and everlasting joy.

Amen.

Holy Week:

Holy Week begins this Sunday, and our students have been busy preparing to lead liturgies across the week.

The timetable for the liturgies is as follows:

Friday 22nd March: Palm Sunday led by Foundation. 9:10am.

Monday 25th March: The Last Supper led by the Junior Unit, 1:00pm.

Wednesday 27th March: Good Friday led by the Senior Unit, 9:10am.

Term 2:

Tuesday 16th April: Easter Sunday led by the Middle Unit, time to be advised.

Parents are more than welcome to join us for these special liturgies.

The children taking part in the Holy Week liturgies helps to deepen their understanding of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us all. It is the most important time in our Church calendar.

Sacramental Program

Congratulations to the following children who make their First Reconciliation tonight Wednesday 20th March. This is a very special occasion for the children and their families, as well as our parish community.

A big thankyou to parents for all their work in preparing the children for the occasion. It is greatly appreciated. The next part of our Sacramental Program, the Dual Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist, will take place in Term 4. General information and enrolment forms will be made available closer to the date.

In the previous newsletter, it was advertised that the next school-led liturgy is on Sunday 24th March. This is a normal parish liturgy, led by parishioners. Families are more than welcome to attend.

School-Led Liturgies:

There are many jobs to be covered during Mass when we are rostered on, such as readings or bringing up the gifts at offertory time. If families would like to help with these, could you please email me at school and I will arrange for this. Our involvement in weekend liturgies is a great way of connecting with our parish community.

The theme for Project Compassion this year is –

For All Future Generations.  Throughout Lent, we will be raising money to donate to Project Compassion to support families in need, and to build a future for generations to come.

Each classroom has a Project Compassion Box where children can donate money. At assembly last week, members of the Social Justice Leadership Team suggested some ways children/families could donate money if they wish:

  • Children might ask Mum or Dad if they have any spare coins around home or in the car that can be placed in our Project Compassion box.
  • Children might like to donate a part of their pocket money to project compassion.
  • Children might offer to do some extra jobs around home to earn some money that can be donated.
  • It's surprising the amount of 5c and 10c coins we have around the house or in our cars. Every little bit helps and is gratefully received.

This Friday, 22nd March, is a casual clothes day. The purpose of this is to raise money to support the work of Caritas and Project Compassion. We ask that the children bring a gold coin donation on the day for this. We will be spending the morning learning about the work of Caritas Australia and taking part in awareness activities as well. We ask that children wear clothing that is sunsmart and shoes appropriate for walking.

This week, zooper doopers will be sold on Friday 22nd March - not Thursday – to raise money for Project Compassion.
