Wellbeing - Middle School

Term 1 Draws to a Close

It has been a very busy yet rewarding term in the Middle School for our students. Some of the highlights over the term are listed below, many of which have been written about in previous editions of our Especean.

  • Year 5 Welcome Day/Orientation and Parents/Carers Morning Tea
  • Year 5 Welcome Mass and Dinner
  • Year 5 Camp to Katoomba
  • Year 5 Peer Support Program led by Year 10 Student Leaders
  • Year 6 Camp to Canberra
  • Year 7 Orientation Program
  • Year 7 Study Skills and Reflection Days
  • Year 7 and 8 Lenten Dances
  • Years 5 - 8 Parent/Carer Information Evenings
  • Years 5 - 8 Middle School Assembly presentations/guest speakers on International Women’s Day and Harmony Day
  • Years 5 – 8 Pastoral Care Lessons and Brainstorm Productions (Wellbeing)

So, as we move to a well-earned holiday period, it is an opportunity for your sons to relax, recuperate, and take time to enjoy themselves with you, their families. These breaks also give them a chance to academically reset and step away in a small sense from the rigours of schoolwork and assessments.

As parents/carers, it is important to understand that holiday breaks are necessary. They are a great opportunity to kindle a stronger relationship between you and your sons. There is a balance to be found between letting your sons have unstructured time and planning family/friend activities.  As such, striking a balance between relaxation and productive activities during the break is very important to ensure they are still stimulated during this period where the pace changes.

I wish all families in the Middle School a relaxing and safe break in preparation for a prosperous Term 2 ahead.

Friday Morning Mass – 8:10 AM College Chapel

Year 5 students will be leading Mass this Friday morning before school. All parents and carers are welcome to join us for this celebration. It has been a busy and exciting first term at SPC, so what a wonderful way to give thanks before the holiday break.

Mass begins promptly at 8:10 AM and finishes in time for the first bell at 8:40 AM when the boys will head directly to class. The Years 5 and 6 boys normally sit at the front of the Chapel, however if you are able to attend, then they can sit in the second half of the Chapel with you.

I look forward to seeing you there.
