Welcome back to school!
A special welcome to new members of our community who have joined our school in Term 2.
Welcome back to Bridget Grundy who has returned from Family Leave, she will be our Tutor Learning teacher for the rest of this year.
We are looking forward to a great learning term!
A short newsletter this week - back to a full newsletter next week with all the information you expect.
Thank you to the School Council and Commuinty Engagement team who ran our BBQ and treasure hunt at the end of term. It was wonderful to see so many families attending the Expo and staying on for the BBQ.
Our first Working Bee for 2024 took place on Saturday March 23rd. We were lucky to have the support of so many parents and students (including past students) spending time on the school environment. It was sparkling in so many areas when we finished.
Thank you to the Vilitati family who disposed of all of our green waste (there was a huge pile!).
Thank you to the McCallum family who were here on the weekend doing lots of leaf blowing and path sweeping to ensure the school looked great for the start of the new term.
Our school is very lucky to have parents, carers and students who volunteer. We appreciate your support.
This past holiday period we had the Stadium floor recoated, the gutters cleaned, pest control sprays, detailed cleaning and a new Out of Hours Care program set up.
Our maintenance person was here for two days undertaking lots of tasks across the property as well.
A reminder we have two pupil free days this term:
TheirCare will be offering a program on both of these days.
We are extending an Open Invitation to all in our community to be part of a community conversation.
As a community our role is to be inclusive (school value) and ensure everyone has equal access to a quality education. Sometimes getting to know each other and how we think or approach situations can give clarity. It can also support us all to build on our ability as a school to be inclusive.
This is an opportunity to participate in a conversation, share your experience, knowledge and expertise. It is an opportunity to ask questions, to learn from each other and to identify how we can work together to ensure our school provides an education which meets the needs of your children, supports all children to build and maintain friendships. We hope to establish ways to support each other as a school community.
All members of our community are valued and welcome, we believe this conversation will be a step in that direction.
As part of our professional learning as a staff in 2024 we will be focusing on inclusion - specifically learning about autism and ADHD.
Starting this conversation we aim to –
We will be holding two opportunities to join a conversation, one in person and one online. Understanding the commitments many families have we appreciate you giving your time.

We will be celebrating Education Week with our Open Day on May 14th. This is an opportunity for new families to take tours of the school.
It is also a chance for you to visit and see the school in action. We invite you to put this date in your calendar and take up the opportunity to see the school in action.
We will be holding school tours for new families, in particular for Foundation 2025 at 9.30, 11.30 and 2.30 pm.
We are excited to invite grandparents and special people in the lives of our students to be part of Open Day on May 14th from 9.00-11.00am. Our students will have the opportunity to share learning with their grandparents and special people, they will be able to show them around the school and our Community Engagement Team will provide morning tea.
Make sure our grandparents and special people have the date in their calendar.
We are holding our Information Night for Foundation 2025 on Monday May 13th from 6.00-7.30pm.
We will provide lots of information about the Foundation program at Boroondara Park PS and starting school on May 13th.
Our school is always reviewing practices and working out how to improve. We have set up a transition strategy to support our work in building enrolments.
Our amazing Foundaiton teacher Miss Jones has been visiting kindergartens and child care centres all over Balwyn, North Balwyn and Bulleen. She has made posters, dropped in fliers and will tomorrow deliver our new postcards. You will have also seen in our final newsletter in Term 1 that our Year 1 students visited Boroondara Pre-School to read to the kindergarten students.
We have lots of visits to Boroondara Pre-School and visits to the school by the kindergarten students and from local childcare centre Red Apple.
You will have seen the advertising boards in the neighbourhood - special thank you to the Coulter family and the Lin family for having a board at their houses.
If you know of families looking for a school, be sure to let them know about our Open Day and Information Night. Pop into the office for a flier or postcard to give to them.
Be sure to check out the TheirCare page of this newsletter. The program has started and the space looks amazing. Reports so far from students - It is great!
With the increased use of Balwyn Road by trucks as part of the North East Link works, we have been advised that a traffic controller will be provided at the intersection of Vicars Street & Balwyn Road. This will be during the drop-off and pick-up periods while the Koonung Creek Reserve compound is under construction.
The traffic controller is a contractor with NELP and will act as an extra crossing supervisor by stopping traffic to allow the students and carers to cross Balwyn Road.
