Wellbeing

Hi St Mary's,

I thought I would pass on this information as it looked like most of us could benefit from some insights into modern day parenting. The goalposts seem to be changing all the time and any tips and guidance would be welcome to add to our parenting bag of tricks. Bron Grieve is a great presenter, understands our community and works with our young people on a daily basis.

Learning Diversity

I also wanted to explain a little about my Learning Diversity role at St Mary's. Essentially when it is determined by our staff, parents and any relevant health care professionals that a student needs further support and adjustments at school to support their learning we include them on our NCCD (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data). This model help our students with extra support in the classroom including ILPs (Individual Learning Plans) which are discussed and reviewed with staff, parents and health care professionals where relevant at PSG meetings (Program Support Group). It also allows our school to access more funding to help put supports in place such as our ESOs (Education Support Officers). We can then ask MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools) for further support and expertise in the form of Learning Specialists visiting the school to observe and work with our students and teachers and also link us up with the relevant health care professionals. As you can see there are a lot of acronyms involved in this role. It overlaps with my Wellbeing roles but at the same time is separate. I have also included a more thorough overview of the NCCD in the NCCD section of this newsletter for you to read through. It most likely makes more sense of it than I do. Anyway, if you would like to have a chat about any of this, your child's learning needs or wellbeing support please don't hesitate to contact me or come in for a chat.

Have a great weekend,
