Kitchen Garden

                                              Last Friday, 3/4 H had their cooking session. 

 

Thanks to Kristen, Miranda and Debbie for coming along to help the students prepare and cook their shared meal. 

Students made Baked Potatoes with Coleslaw and other toppings and Scones with Lemon Curd and cream. From the garden we used potatoes, cabbages, celery and rosemary. Carrots, apples and lemons were also used as well as fridge and pantry items. 

It was lovely to see everyone sharing, taking turns and working together to prepare the meal and wash up the work tables and then coming together to enjoy the shared meal. 

 

We always encourage everyone to try a little bit even if they think they won’t like it. Turns out, it was smiles all round and we even had students asking for seconds. 

I encourage you to try some cooking together, as a family, at home. 

It’s a great activity and (I find) kids are more open to trying new things if they’ve had some input into growing, preparing or cooking.
